The RPA-1 Transportation Policy Board will discuss and award Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) and Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) funds at its meeting on Wednesday, March 16. The Policy Board meeting is at 11:00 a.m. and the Enhancement Committee (TAP recommendation) and Technical Committee (STBG recommendation) will meet beforehand at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., respectively. The goal of this effort is to identify gaps and anticipate future housing needs in order to assist local stakeholders in finding solutions to current and future housing challenges. All Clayton County residents, as well as those who work in Clayton County or frequently visit, are invited to take an online housing survey. Decorah homeowners may have a new way to pay for home improvements later this year. The City of Decorah and UERPC are partnering to apply for a Community Development Block Grant that will assist low- to moderate- income homeowners with critical home repairs. UERPC is seeking pre-applications from Decorah homeowners to determine interest in the program. UERPC is thrilled to assist Howard County and Upper Iowa Beef (UIB) with a Career Link Transportation Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) in an amount of $109,200.  This program provides funding to support transportation for individuals to travel to job activities or job education opportunities. Funding is provided through local governments to non-profit transportation service providers for operational expenses (not for purchasing buses or other equipment). This project will assist UIB, a beef processing plant within Lime Springs, IA, with transportation services.
