July 22nd Open House to Gather Input on Transportation Safety in Small Towns

Residents, community leaders, and other interested individuals are invited to attend an upcoming community open house focused on transportation safety within small and rural towns.

The open house is part of a collaborative planning effort led by MSA Professional Services and Toole Design in partnership with Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission examining transportation safety in towns across Allamakee, Clayton, Fayette, Howard, and Winneshiek counties in northeast Iowa. The result of the planning effort will be the identification of actionable projects that local governments can use to guide investments and to seek outside funding for transportation safety improvements in their communities.

Attendees will have an opportunity to share their experiences, identify transportation safety concerns, and help inform future safety planning efforts throughout the region. Input from residents and local stakeholders will help the project team better understand where safety improvements may be needed and what transportation issues are most important to the people who travel the region’s roads and streets.

The open house will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at the Wilder Business Center at Northeast Iowa Community College, located at 1625 Highway 150 South in Calmar.

Light refreshments will be available. For more information, visit tinyurl.com/neiss4a2026.
